Pharmacy Eco-Friendly Ecolo-Vial Quiz


Since 2013, Calgary Co-op pharmacies have partnered with EcoloPharm in the adoption of Ecolo-Vial, Canada’s only eco-friendly vial. EcoloPharm is the only Canadian company specializing in the innovation and manufacturing of eco-friendly packaging solutions for pharmacies.

Ecolo-Vial is an eco-designed product that is produced using 30% less plastic, 55% less energy, generates 52% less CO2 and is 100% recyclable. The innovative multipurpose design is also safe for children yet easy to open for seniors.

Considering that the pharmacy industry is the second largest generator of packaging waste, our Pharmacies at Calgary Co-op are committed to embracing greener practices to protect and better care for the environment just as we do for the health of our patients. Along with adopting eco-friendly packaging products like Ecolovials to dispense prescriptions, our pharmacy teams also reduce waste by correctly sorting materials for recycling and waste within the pharmacy and share information with our members through digital channels whenever possible instead of paper.
In 2020 alone, we have substantially reduced our environmental footprint by safeguarding from:
