Hikers Unanimous wrap-up picnic

Hi everyone – with hiking season drawing to a close, and social distancing still (somewhat) in effect, I’m going to throw out an invitation for everyone to meet in Fish Creek Park for a Sunday afternoon picnic, on Sunday, September 13th.   The long range forecast suggests the weather is supposed to be nice that day; up to +18 with full sun, and light winds.   I think if we go out any further into September, we could run the risk of snow (ugh!!).

Bebo Grove in Fish Creek is nicely treed with lots of picnic tables, and is on the main paved bike path, plus there’s lots of walking paths in this area of the park.

I’m suggesting anyone who wants to hike could arrive around 2 PM, and then we’ll congregate in the picnic area around 4 PM, and light the fire for the hot dogs.  I’ll supply/bring the wood for the fire, hot dogs and condiments, plus pop, marshmallows, plates, forks, etc.,  plus hand sanitizer.

To get there, head south on either Deerfoot, MacLeod or 14th Street and (in all cases) turn right at Anderson Road and head west.   Turn left (south) at 24th street, go south through two lights and continue south past a  small round-a-bout, and continue down the hill into Fish Creek Park.   There’s a set of stairs on the south side of the parking lot, and about 100M in, the picnic table areas start.   I’m not exactly sure where we’ll be, but we’ll be in this area.

There’s also indoor bathroom facilities in the parking lot.

Please bring –

-          Lawn chair

-          Your own picnic lunch (if you don’t want hot dogs)

-          Sticks or rods to cook your wieners

-          Liquid (to drink), if you don’t like my pop

-          pets, kids, spouses, parents, friends, mothers-in-law, etc.

-          extra coat; this time of the year and in the trees, it might get chilly later on in the afternoon.

I’ll have my cell with me if you get lost – 5*7-9*6-3**7

Hope to see you there, and let’s hope for a nice weather day.   Also, not sure if I have everyone’s email address included, so feel free to invite others; it’s an outdoor picnic area, and certainly not restricted.  Also, I’m combining several different email lists, so if you get this twice, please ignore the duplication (the reverse is also true; I haven’t intentionally excluded anyone).
